GIFTED & TALENTED COMPETITION 2008
SELECTION OF MINI SAGAS
|
The Last Wish
Lawrence Hart, The Hereson School
(Winner Y10)
As the rain-sodden, shrivelled old man stroked his hand gun at the foot of his daughter's magnificent grave, he reminisced about her final wish: for her deceitful husband to be murdered. The old man couldn't bear this weight on his shoulders, so he turned purposefully towards the town's gloomy streets.

Fireghosts
Harry Sears, The Marlowe Academy
(Winner Y9)
The vengeful river fell silent. All around there were fireghosts, there must have been 400. They crowded around me, suddenly there came a dragon pulling a boat behind. The dragon was scaly, wrinkly, rough but very long and skinny. He grabbed me, I thought I was dead, then I fainted.

A Sunrise
Luke Lucas, King Ethelbert School
(Winner Y8)
Lying in my bed, the sun in my eyes
Sat up watching the sun rise
So beautiful, I felt a tear in my eye
I whispered to my self please Luke don't cry
I wish I could be like that bird in the sky
To fly so gracefully up high

The Sea - A Precious Moment
Ruby Balcombe, Ellington School for Girls
(Winner Y7)
She watched the wonderful waves as they frothed and surrounded her feet, pulling them into the pool of dark blue. A prism of perfection sparkled in the golden glorious sunlight as the girl danced and spun then suddenly the waves were no more. The mystical ocean had reclaimed its magic.

My Chocolate Fantasy
Pranvera Sahiti & Leanne Kingsly
Drapers Mills Primary School
(Winners Y6)
My chocolate fantasy started when I came back from school, two days before Easter. And the shop windows were full of chocolate shaped bunnies and Easter eggs. My imagination started to run wild. The doors, windows, floors and even my mum were chocolate. Easter came and my fantasy had ended.

The Hunter
Kieran Haines, The Marlowe Academy
I'm in a forest, with my bow hurdling over ridged sticks and smooth stones. I see a bear almost throwing itself at me. I raise my bow, wield my quiver ... trembling, it's so tall, it seems upon me, the arrow is fired, the bear topples downwards, streaming with blood.

Raging Blaze of Scorching Inferno
Alfie Murray, King Ethelbert School
A raging blaze of scorching inferno flashed before my eyes, I stood my position on the burnt out soil.
Phoenix elegant golden feathers floating in air, feathers glimmering in the beautiful night sky, shining like stars.
Dragon scaly wings blasting raging balls of fire. Phoenix replied with the same with a flash gone ... never knowing who won..........
