We now employ two learning mentors. One of whom has already successfully completed the learning mentor training, with the other currently undertaking it. Employing these learning mentors and a behaviour mentor has greatly increased the number of children we can focus on both academically and emotionally. This group are known as the pastoral team and are key to our at risk group as they are often the key workers to these children. They also support parents and have run various parent groups and are in the process of organising our first Breakfast Club.
Another great success of the learning mentors is their ‘buddy training'. They have accessed training for and overseen two buddy groups, one year 6 group who buddy younger pupils in KS1 and also another group in which children who are in the KS1/S2 transitional stage are buddied by our new year 6's.
