Holy Trinity and St John's School is a large primary school based in the centre of Margate. It is situated in an area of seriously disadvantaged socio economic circumstances. The surrounding wards are currently the second most deprived in Kent. The area has a high incidence of sub-standard housing and a high proportion of single parent families. Health related problems - parental drug/alcohol abuse, emotional and mental health concerns - are common. The crime and teenage pregnancies rates are very high. Poor perceptions of school and education lead to strained home/school relations and condoned absence.
To help counteract all these circumstances Holy Trinity & St John's has a very strong Christian ethos that emphasises care and security for each individual child. It is important that all pupils feel safe and happy in the school environment so that they can develop academically, emotionally, spiritually and socially.
The Thanet Excellence Cluster and Behaviour Improvement Plans are key initiatives in helping our school provide an inclusive environment that meets the needs of all children.
