Newlands School has a role of 460 children at the present. We provide for a mixture of needs, varying from Gifted and Talented to a vast range of other Special Educational Needs. Being a part of the Thanet Excellence Cluster has given the school a significant boost in our confidence to explore and improve our provision for our children through various mediums. We have a school's co-ordinator that oversees the smooth running of the three strands and various members of teaching staff that are involved in many initiatives that run throughout the school. Having other Cluster members has enabled us to share ideas and resources. These links have proved very effective.
The Behaviour Improvement Programme has enabled the school to reassess its way of working on important areas that affect the day to day running of the school
We are now more robust in tracking unauthorised absences. Management time is used more effectively when dealing with behavioural problems from both adult and pupils alike. The school is also supportive to all staff and adults when behavioural situations occur. The BIP will continue to be an important resource for the future development of Newlands School
