We are very proud of our school which has served the local community since 1886. The school is situated in Westgate-on-Sea, a small seaside resort on the outskirts of Margate. Although we are not officially linked to an Infant School, our main feeder school is St. Crispin's. We are a Church of England school and as such have strong links with the Parish of St. Saviour's. We moved into our present buildings in 1995, but a new block including an ICT suite has since been added. We have spacious landscaped grounds which include a large playing field, playground and environmental area.
We are a three form entry junior school with approximately 30 pupils in each class. Our curriculum is broad and balanced and we highly value celebrating children's achievements across the curriculum including citizenship, art, music and sport. Our philosophy is very much learner centred where we focus on how each child learns best and how we can best help each child to reach his or her true potential. Our school is much more than words on a website...it is about people and especially our children. We have always put children first. This important characteristic remains at the heart of our vision. Every child is unique. Every child deserves the opportunity to be happy, feel valued and experience success. If, in future years, our children look back and say that St Saviour's Junior School made a positive difference to their lives then we will have succeeded.
Our school community has benefited immensely from our partnership with the Thanet Excellence Cluster and the Behaviour Improvement Programme. Through the extra funding we have been able to employ a two part-time teachers, a Learning Mentor and Family Liaison Officer, extend and enhance provision for the Gifted and Talented and further develop our work on emotional intelligence. We feel privileged to be part of such a committed and effective partnership.
